Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    April 28, 2026

    Week 30

It was the final games of the season. The “Four Aces” had first place locked up.
“The Pretenders” had a solid hold on second place. Third place was up for grabs. “20 Below” blew out the lanes – taking 8 points and third place.

Will (the President) Helmlinger with a 218 and 201. Ho hum! What’s new?!! Which bowler this season had the most 200 games?

Charlie (Silver Fox) Diggs + 43 above his season average. (ASA)

    Tom Rezendes + 27 ASA

Mark (Polish Tenor) Sabina + 22 ASA

    Tom Montimurro +21 ASA

Will (the President) Helmlinger +21 ASA

John (the Banker) Conant +19 ASA

Frank (Mr. CFO) Ward wins, again, in the scholarship 50/50. Remember, you have to spend money – to make money.

Don’t forget the banquet’s raffle. We need those donations.

Thursday, April 30, 2026. It’s party time. Boy, do I have a “few” things to say.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    April 20, 2026

    Week 29

    Dave Cady with a 205. What’s new?!

The final week is going out with a bang. Third place is up for grabs.  “Jar Heads” are leading by only 1 point over the “Bad Boys” and the “20 Below.” And the “Dudes” are only 6 points behind. It’s going to be a “grand finale.”

Perfect attendance this season: Dave Cady and Karl Peterson. Candyman and Gary Molyneaux missed one day.

We’re going to have our last of the season scholarship raffle this Thursday. Bring money!!

We need donations for our banquet raffle. Rumor has it that Roy is coming up with something special – again! Please help!!

See you Thursday. “A” game please. I plan to leave the “tennis club.”

And remember that our bowling season ends on April 23 AND our annual banquet is April 30 at the Yarmouth House. We have 31 confirmations. There is still plenty of time to make your entrée selection. Email Will Helmlinger no later than April 23!

Dave (“Albany Flyer”) Cady with a 207. Ho hum!! What’s new?

Doug (”Bus Driver”) Scott with a 200. The “Bus Driver” has been driving good all year.

I have enough candy for the rest of the year. However, we do need donations for our raffle at the banquet April 30. By the way, Monte will have his roast beef.

Bring your “A” game. See you Thursday.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    April 6, 2026

    Week 27

Frank (“Mr. CFO”) Ward – 201 – finally!

Karl (the “Quiet One”) Peterson – 200. Karl has been bowling great all season.

Will (“Mr.  President”) Helmlinger – 199. Sorry, I can’t call it. You’ve gotten enough press ALL year.

The “Four Aces” have 1st place all sold up. “The Pretenders” are solid in 2nd place, but the battle is for the next four positions. Only 4 points separate these four teams.

I have more than enough candy to finish the season. My call has been answered! No money ever came out of the “kitty.” Thank you! Thank you, guys!

See you soon. “Don’t give up the ship.”

And remember that our bowling season ends on April 23 AND our annual banquet is April 30 at the Yarmouth House. So far, we have 28 confirmations. There is still plenty of time to make your entrée selection. Email Will Helmlinger today!

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    March 19, 2026

Week 25 (March 19 results. Sorry for the unexpected delay)

    200 games:

                    John (The Banker) Conant     222

                    Bruce (B.B.) Burger                     208

                    Dave (Albany Flyer)                     201

The man from Whitman (John Conant) was on fire. I’m sure his lovely wife, Cindy, got an earful – “How Great Thou Art.” Remember John, Cindy can outrun and out golf you!!

“How the worm turns!” Last week, Bob Callahan had a nice 189 game. I gave him a “hats off.” This week, a spare in the 10th box was a saver. Bob Callahan broke 100. His score was 107! Can you do it again, Bob?

Steve (Gus) Gustafson was a +18 above his season’s average. Frank (Mr. CFO) Ward was +22 over his season’s average. But I can’t call a 199.

On March 26, in memory of George French, we are having special candy and sandwiches. Guess what?

    See you all Thursday.

And remember that our bowling season ends on April 23 AND our annual banquet is April 30 at the Yarmouth House. Details will be coming out soon. Stay tuned.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    March 16, 2026

    Week 24

Bruce (“B.B.”) Burger had a nice 238 game.

The “Dudes,” led by Bob Callahan, did-up the “Bad Boys.” Hats off to the “Dudes.” Gary Molyneaux had a 220 game. Gary, “I hate you,” but thanks for the candy. Next time, I’ll keep my mouth shut.

This coming Thursday, March 19, is a special day for some of us. I’ve got a surprise for all!

See you all Thursday. And bring your “A” game, please.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    March 9, 2026

    Week 23

Today, I don’t want to talk about teams because 1st place is all sewed up. I want to talk about individuals.

On lanes 19-20: Karl (Mr. Nice Guy) Peterson was “on fire.” He needed a 10 on his final ball to tie Will Helmlinger with a 246. Got it!  Will and Karl were tied with a season high of 246 each.

But wait…less than an hour later, it was a different story. Bruce (B.B.) Burger (on lanes 19-20) was about to upset the “apple cart.” Frame 1 – an open. Frame 2 – a spare. Then 8 straight strikes. Bruce had a 258 – a new season high. Wow! Great!!

Dave (Albany Flyer) Cady won our Scholarship 50/50. $125.00 to Dave and the same for the Scholarship Fund.

There is “bad blood” on lanes 17-18. The “Bad Boys” will give the “Dudes” an old-fashioned beating. Bob Callahan is a “has been.”

    See you all Thursday.

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    March 2, 2026

    Week 22

In my opinion, the “Four Aces” are long gone. No one is going to catch them, but don’t mention it to “The Pretenders.”

Will Helmlinger’s crew are “red hot.”

Will Helmlinger +23 ASA (Above Season’s Average)

                    Gus Gustafson + 22 ASA

    Mike Curtis +18 ASA

    Other bowlers:

                    Bruce Farrel +27 ASA

    Roy Tununjian +26 ASA

                    Gene Mulligan +18 ASA

Will (the President) Helmlinger with a 246, which is a league and season high. Wow!

Roy (Bob Feller) Tutunjian a nice 200 game.

Bruce (BB) Burger a 198. Sorry, I can’t call it.

As you know, last Thursday was cancelled. A good call, Will. This Thursday is our “February” 50/50 Scholarship Raffle. Bring an extra Sawbuck or a double Sawbuck.

See you Thursday. “A” game, please!

Tidbits from the Gerald R. Fortier Bowling League

    February 16, 2026

    Week 21: 200 games

Doug “the Bus Driver” Scott – 212. He has been bowling great all year.

Bruce “BB” Burger – 202. Bruce has become one of our top five bowlers this season.

Bob Callahan is back in town. That man has more travel miles than I have hair on my head. Yes, even 70 years ago.

The “Four Aces” have a 26-point lead. The “runaway train” picked up six. Dave “Albany Flyer” Cady was +20 over his average. Don “Dead Eye” Lee was +9 over his average. Too bad, he needs help handling the “Red Pin” coin collector without dropping it and spilling all the coins out. He has the best straight ball in the league.

Karl “Lucky” Peterson was 21 pins above his average to lead the “Bad Boys” to an 8-point sweep.

See everyone this Thursday. Candy, I have!
